This lodging is ideal as it is in the typical and most popular part of Sorrento centre (pedestrianized for almost all day): the spot is perfect to appreciate the lively atmosphere and the nightlilfe of the town. A short stroll around is sufficient to admire the magnificent monuments which are nearby. It islike an open air museum: one can admire the Sedile Dominova(XVI c.), the only existing testimony in the Campania region of the ancient seats of the Sorrento nobility; the Cloister of Saint Francis(XIV c.), ancient building with splendid pointed arches all around; the Cathedral in Romanic style and so on.
Nina lodging can be considered one of the few typical houses, in volcanic rock, which were once very common in our area and which have survived till now. The tufa stone (rock of volcanic origin) keeps the dwellings cool in the summer and warm in the winter. So, inspite of the shortage of air-conditioning, this lodging is nice and cool: in case the house is equipped with an electric fan. In addition this particular type of rock is soundproof. So, even though staying in the centre of Sorrento – actually in the most lively part – the house is very quiet.
Nina lodging has an autonomous access: there is a small main wooden door, then two short flights of stairs to reach the entrance door of the lodging. the entrebnce is directly into the dining-room where the walls are completely covered with tiles, according to the Sorrento tradition. In the same room there is a spacious square table with chairs. In a corner of dining-room is the kitchen , which is built in bricks and stones, but at the same time very modern, large and equipped with plenty of comforts such as a gas cooker, fridge-freezer. In the kitchen a wide window lets plenty of light in. Obviously the kitchen is equipped with steel saucepans, cutlery, glasses, coffee machine, can and bottle openers, washing-up liquid. The double bedroom is close to the kitchen and it has a TV, two bedside tables, each one with its bedside lamp, and a large and spacious wardrobe.
The bathroom has a shower. The lodging has been renovated with great care and taste according to the typical ancient Sorrento tradion. Once a lot of houses in the Sorrento Peninsula were like this, but the most of them have been modified over the centuries.
There is a public car park 300 m. (328 yards) away.
In staying in Nina lodging it is not necessary to use a car as the bus stop is only 50 m. (55 yards) away and the local train station is 600 m. (656 yards) away.
From the lodging it is sufficient to cover on foot about 200 meters (220 yards) in oredr to reach the coastline and public lift for nearest beach: a typical bathing establishment of the Sorrento area on wooden pilework.
The Cathedral, the Cloister of S. Francis, and the park are only a stroll away. In addition the street Via Tasso takes to the Piazza della Vittoria 200 m. away (220 yards) where there is a terrace with a spectacular view of the Gulf of Naples, streaching from the island of Procida to Mount Vesuvius. If one leans from the balustrade of that terrace, one can see the green-azure sea of Sorrento right below, with its long, thin strips of beaches, coloured by lounges and umbrellas. And there are many more things to delight the senses... the mild climate, the gentle breeze blowing from the sea. One can also enjoy a walk along the ancient main street (on the left of the terrace) leading to Marina Grande, a fishing village.
Nina lodging can easily become home base for enjoying the incomparable beauty of Sorrento, the Sorrento Coast, Capri and other islands, the Amalfi Coast and Naples.
One can get to these famous places either by ferry or organised tourist trips. By train one can easily visit Pompeii, Vesuvius, the Caserta Palace and other attractions.
This is surely an unforgettable holiday.
